I'm putting together the comics part of our holiday gift guide. Anyone have any suggestions as to comics either just recently out or coming out between now and Christmas that I should review?

ETA: My current roundup:
Hereville, Barry Deutsch;
Make me a woman, Vanessa Davis;
X'ed Out, Charles Burns;
Masterpiece Comics, R. Sikoryak;
Picture This, Lynda Barry;
Softer Side of R. Crumb.
RASL tpb, Jeff Smith;
Ex Machina;
aaaand I guess the latest issue of Inbound

Still open to suggestions.

It is a few months old but Blacksad by Juan Díaz Canales and Juanjo Guarnido is my book of the year. Darwin Cooke's new Parker adaptation is also excellent.

Casanova by Fraction, Ba, and Moon is being reprinted in more color which is a new opportunity to call Casanova one of the best comics books of all time.

Noteworthy periodicals that I'm reading at the moment include the very excellent King City by Brandon Graham, Morning Glories, Action Comics feat. Lex Luthor, Secret Six, and the crazy Batman comics of Grant Morrison.

Hereville, by Barry Deutsch! An excellent Hanukkah gift book possibility for young folk. (Or Christmas, or Divali, or whatever. But especially neato for Jewish families looking for something with an actual tie-in to Jewish faith and folklore.)

Definitely on the list

I'd ask you to review mine, if I knew when it was coming out.

(It was solicited for October...)

Welcome back, by the way.

How about the Adele Blanc-Sec book from Fantagraphics? Pteradactyls, telepathy, secret cults, goons etc.

Congrats on your current gig, by the way.

Anders Nilsen's Big Questions series just finished after about a decade. It's funny, beautifully designed, and very, very bleak.
